Peter McCormick
Peter McCormick brings extensive experience in the deregulated electrical industry having over 11 years of hands on experience with participants and ISO’s in multiple markets. Peter led the development of a calendarization engine that has been used to shadow settle retailer’s load in multiple markets across the US and Canada. He has assisted organizations assess and enhance their forecasting algorithms and associated procedures used in position management, billing, load settlement and load forecasting systems. Peter has extensive experience with trading organizations, focusing on asset optimization, day ahead and real time trading. He has also worked with multiple gas retailers across North America in the areas of scheduling, volumetric balancing and valuation. He has led the reviews of an ISO’s dispatch algorithm including the development of screening tools to asses the incorporation of individual generator characteristics; ramp limits, minimum run times and daily limits. Peter has also led reviews of metering, scheduling and settlement processes. He has assisted clients in developing volumetric reconciliation processes and has performed assessments of utilities unbilled revenue processes. He has also led data intensive engagements that have assessed the load settlement engines used to settle a retail electricity market in Canada. He led the assessment of the energy trading systems used at an ISO; internal consulting to the transmission and distribution functions of a major utility; and in-depth experience in data transformation and modeling. Representative Projects: - Assessment of a utilities asset optimization tools used for long term, day ahead and real time trading. - Assessment of a utilities day ahead and real time electricity scheduling and check out processes. - Multiple reviews of various trading organizations’ load forecasting processes used in term, day ahead and real time trading. - Led multiple reviews of an ISO’s dispatch algorithm including the development of screening tools to facilitate the assessments. - Development of an integrated assurance plan at a newly formed ISO. - Led a review of an Independent System Operator’s transmission tariff calculations. - Led multiple reviews of an Independent System Operator’s dispatch algorithm. - Assisted a utility in developing an enhanced Energy Reconciliation. - Performed a preliminary assessment of the Energy Trading and Energy Management systems at an ISO. - Assessed the imbalance calculation and calendarization of customer bills at a gas retailer. - Led a volumetric reconciliation and unbilled revenue calculation processes at a electrical retailer. - Led a review of the accuracy of site level estimates created by a distribution company’s billing and settlement systems. - Led a review of the meter data capture, meter data validation, billing and settlement processes at a Wire Service Provider. - Hands on experience with OATI web Trader, Web Trans, Web Oasis, E-tagger. - Hands on experience working with multiple billing systems including SAP, Banner, Peace, MVstar, Cognera, Peace and custom built applications. - Analysis of the meter data capture, meter data validation, billing and settlement processes at a Distribution Utility. - Specified procedures engagement to assess the load settlement engines of the four Load Settlement Agents in Alberta.
